From Challenges to Creativity: A Milestone Week at Sandgate Glass
What a Week It’s Been at Sandgate Glass!
Wow, what a whirlwind! This week has been a huge milestone for me at Sandgate Glass, with five orders in just two days! I feel so proud of my little business and how far I’ve come since starting this journey. Every day is a chance to learn and grow, and there’s always something new I want to try—both in the business side of things and in experimenting with fresh techniques.
Recently, I’ve been diving into making 3D stained glass objects, and let me tell you, my mind is buzzing with ideas! There’s so much potential in this craft, and I’m excited to see where this new skill will take me. Watch this space because big things are coming!
Starting Sandgate Glass has been a game-changer for me, not just professionally but personally as well. For those who don’t know, I’m currently waiting for a kidney transplant. It’s been 43 months (almost four years!) on the active transplant list—not that I’m counting, haha! My weeks are filled with dialysis sessions, which keep me out of the house for nearly six hours at a time. It’s draining, both physically and emotionally.
When I first started, it definitely felt like life was on pause, and I was in a pretty dark place. But launching Sandgate Glass brought a spark of light back into my life. Having something creative and fulfilling to focus on has been such a boost for my mental health. I never imagined how much joy and purpose I’d find in turning my ideas into reality and sharing them with you all.
Today is Teamwork Thursday over at The British Craft House, and I’m so grateful to be part of this amazing community. The advice, support, and camaraderie from other makers have been invaluable. Every time I make a sale, I do a little happy dance—it’s the best feeling!
In the spirit of teamwork, I’ve shared some cheerful handmade items from fellow makers on BCH below. Click the photos to explore their lovely shops!
Thank you for supporting small businesses like mine—it truly means the world. Wishing you a bright, cheerful, and creative week ahead!
Warm wishes,
Sandgate Glass
