Fused Glass Dragonfly Wings, Trees and A Walk at Glasson Dock.
A week full of experiments!
It has been a busy week! Saturday started off lovely and bright, we took advantage of the good weather and went to Glasson Dock for a walk. I had a vague memory of going here with my parents and I wanted to re visit. A few wrong turns and lots of looking at the map trying to look like I knew how to read it, and we pulled in to the carpark. All the memories of going there with my parents returned, it was just as I remembered. I was a little big emotional!
I just loved the yellow of these flowers, if only I knew what type they are! I think I will be using these colours as inspiration, they are just so vivid!
The rest of the week was spent experimenting which is always fun but sometimes frustrating. I am taking part in an exhibition in Bristol next month and I have been inspired by macro pictures of dragon fly wings.
Try as I might I could not get the result I wanted, I was convinced I was going to make the wing by pressing the glass but I didn’t like the result. It was back to the drawing board! Then I remembered a technique called frit lace and, bingo, it was almost prefect! Here is a little test piece, its not perfect but it’s getting there!
I also managed to list my seasonal tree picture on my shop. I am really proud of this one, it’s the biggest thing I have made and took several trips to the kiln! The picture is a link to the listing.
Each tree represents a season which got me thinking… this would make a great post for the fellow sellers to show their seasonal items. Here a a selection of items featuring Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Enjoy!
Have a great weekend!
