A Spring Walk through the Snowdrops.
An inspiring day!
Hello and welcome to my blog! This one has been inspired by my new make, a Spring themed Snowdrop picture. It is probably one of my favourite things that I have made. It was inspired by two things, the first was a lovely walk at Lytham Hall. Every February they hold Snowdrop walks through the grounds. I try to go every year. It is a wonderful event and place, there are over 9 million snowdrops in full bloom. It is well worth a visit. There is a cafe to have a drink and a snack, always a nice treat! Here are some photos from our walk.
Then on Tuesday I went to my art lesson, and I was happy to find we were using pictures of Snowdrops as inspiration! I have such a good, fun time at my art lesson and am usually inspired to use what I have painted as inspiration for my glass work. This week was no different. Here is the picture of my painting. Don't laugh! I’m not a natural painter but it's fun and that's all that matters!
Of course, after all this Snowdrop inspiration I just had to make something in glass. I decided to use my picture as inspiration. Here is a little video on how it came together.
I was so happy with how it turned out! I decided to frame it and I listed it on my British Craft House shop. It is one of my favourite things I have made. Tap the picture to be taken to my listing. I think I may try and use the same style and make some more things, perhaps a vase? So many possibilities! Watch this space!
With this in mind, I asked my fellow sellers what their favourite listing is on their shop. There were lots of lovely items. Tap the picture to be taken to the shop.
I've chosen it because I really enjoyed co-ordinating and choosing the lovely fabrics and metal 'hardware'- (zips, strap rings, bag feet etc!)
I love strawberry thief, the William Morris pattern is iconic, it goes with everything and creates a really eye catching accessory.
It's difficult choosing a favourite as it changes each time a piece is completed and polished, having said that Chris The Smith loves the metal hearts because they can be personalised with names and dates around the base. It makes a piece extra special when you have to customise it for a customer.
My favourite pieces are the circle pendants. They are such a simple design, non fussy, cheerful yet bold. Can be worn with various chain lengths.
One of my favourites is Casper dressed as a butterfly chatting to Frank Caterpillar (he wants to be a butterfly too). I love telling stories through my work and I was pleased with the decorative colours of this little bag. Designed for carrying favourite books and toys.
One of my favourite pieces is this bridal headband. I love the warm feel that the gold and the cream convey, the little sparkly accents and the secret treat of the bright red band that finishes the inside. It can, of course, be worn for any occasion which is something I love about it too.
My favourite is this gorgeous free flowing Elven Style Bracelet. Made using 'antiqued' copper wire and some yummy faceted glass beads. This is my favourite just now because it was fun to make and yet looks so simple and elegant.
We launched our Gardener's Orange and Rose Geranium Hand Cream for Valentines and Mothers' Day. It's got a feminine scent and perfect as we head towards spring and summer.
Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the wonderful things that are available. Have a brilliant and inspiring weekend!
