Zig Zags and Strips

The second part begins!

Hello and welcome back to my blog, last time I showed you the first stage of my experiment with 1mm stringers. You can find that post here.

I was happy with how it turned out, I only very lightly tack fused it so there was lots of texture and I love how the colours look, especially the pop of white amongst all the different blues and greens. I especially love the diagonal direction of the stringers. There is lots of movement and I can see so many different ways I can use the sheet, it would be so easy to go off in a different direction, however I wanted to stick to my original idea. I can do more experiments next time. It is always fun to have ideas and plans!

Now to cut the piece into strips! I haven't had much experience cutting annealed glass, so I was a little nervous! I used my new cutting square to get the strips very straight and took it very slowly using my trusty pistol grip cutter. A quick squeeze with the breaking pliers and I was pleased to find myself with a 2 cm wide strip. Success!

I had a little play with the pieces before moving on to the next stage of the experiment, you will have to read my next post to see how that turned out!
