Struggling with a Facebook Hack: Losing Memories and a Business Lifeline

Last night, I was immersed in my business, researching keywords for a new product and drafting a listing, when I received an unexpected Facebook notification. Someone had accepted my friend request. This was puzzling because I rarely send out friend requests, especially to strangers.

Attempting to log into Facebook, I was met with a notification that my account was suspended due to a linked Instagram account—which wasn't mine. Panic set in. I couldn't access the Facebook help center without logging in first, and my account was inaccessible. Desperately, I emailed a Facebook support address I found online, but my plea has gone unanswered.

To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement. My personal account held nearly 15 years of irreplaceable memories—photos and posts from people and pets no longer with us, moments from my first date with my now-husband, and the chronicles of my life's journey. My business account, though younger, was my pride and joy. I had worked tirelessly on it, hoping to reach 200 followers by the end of the year. It was a beacon of hope for me as I await a kidney transplant.

I'm not just heartbroken; I'm angry. Angry at the hackers for violating my space and at Facebook for their lack of support. Now, I find myself at a crossroads. Should I start a new Facebook page? My heart isn't in it right now. Should I explore other social media platforms? I'll deeply miss the groups I've been part of, not just for business but also those related to my health struggles.

Where do I take my business from here? Facebook was a crucial part of my marketing strategy. Losing access feels like losing a lifeline.
